    lV that the knowledge of its use is still so confined, and that we have so frequently to lament the lost talents of great and good men, who become martyrs to the ravages of gout for want of such timely assistance. He should believe that the single case of Captain Bulmer, detailed in the following pages by Mr, J. M. Williams, surgeon, (p. 52.) would alone give hope to arthiitic patients, if it could come to their knowledge, sup- posing other Cases equally strong were wanting. But the dis- coverer is circumscribed 1n his means of diffusing this know- ledge, and is of himself unable to overleap the mounds of pre- judice, and to give. sufficient credence to a new remedy that -makes such incredible promises. He therefore implores the assistance of all well-wishers to mankind, in order ta perfect and extend the knowledge we have so far gained. '
