![-22 - Generally good co-operation continues to be met by employers in implementing the letter of and spirit behind the Act. By the end of the year the Act is being observed apart from a few instances where practical and other difficulties are encountered. The Working of the Act Some frustration is felt at the continued absence of specific Regulations governing lighting standards, as the adequacy of light is, to a degree, subjective. If one postulates a high or a low standard as minimum one has the feeling that the Regulations may prescribe one very different from that chosen, thereby ca using the co-operative employer a double expense in complying. To date we have contented ourselves with taking light readings where illumination appeared poor and requesting increased lighting where working areas fall below twelve lumens. Incorporated in informal notification of requirements under the Act is a reference to the need to notify accidents to the Local Authority in accordance with the Act.
