![Of the throe deaths of premature babies at the County Hospital, one case v’as actually born at Canada 'ousc. and the case removed to hospital after delivery. The causes of death in the six cases which terminated fatally have been riven as prematurity in three cases, extreme prematurity in one case, prematurity and asthenia in one case and prematurity and mongolism in one case. Toxaemia of pregnancy in the pother has not been riven, but undoubtedly is the cause in the majority of cases. Duriir the yc.,r a draught-proof cot with an electrically heated blanket together with special feeding battle etc., were provided by the Maternity and Child ./clfarc Committee, to be lent out to practising nidwives for use in casco of prematurity treated in the home. Since its provision thi-‘ outfit has been called for on several occasions. [mmunination. (Sec page 15 ) In the carls’’ part of the year it war resolved to offer facilities or immunisation against whooping cough on the same lines as for iphthcria. Immunisation was commenced on the 24.4.45 and 65 children fere dealt vith cur in; the year. In the care of Diphtheria Immunisation 501 children (including [G3 pro-school) were immunised.
