![Aigle.—Switzerland, Canton Vand, between Monti'eux and Bex, 1,330 feet above sea level. The waters contain carbonate of magnesia, sulphate of lime, and bicarbonate of ]jotash, as vrell as pure carbonic acid gas. The Kurhaus Hotel is well fitted up and thoroughly comfort- able. The scenery is I'omantic. Within easy drive of Aigle are several places rapidly becoming recognised as health resorts. Among these Diahlercts, both summer and winter station, with good hotels. Chateau cVOex and Leysin, much frequented by consumptive patients. Aigle possesses a beautiful English church. Doctors : Dr. Mandrin. Hotel: Beau-site, opposite to station. Aincille.—France, Dept. Lower Pyrenees. Saline water, containing 135 grammes of salt to the litre. The mineral constituents are derived from a mass of rock salt. Ain-ntiissy.—Algriers, Province of Oran, arrondissement Mostaganem 48 miles from Atteville. Strong saline waters, which act as a purgative. Airthrey.—Scotland, in the neighbourhood of Stirling. Brine waters ; G springs. Special indications : Skin diseases, scrofula. A fine picturesque town. Aitora.—Italy, Tuscany, near Monte-Catmi. Sulphurous waters, 55° to 60° F. Special indications : Used externally in chronic rheumatism, in scrofula, gout, and skin diseases; internally in cases of gravel and vesical catarrh. Aix-la-Chapelle (Aachen).—Germany, Rhenish-Prussia. Is reached in about 12 hours from London, via Calais, Ostende, or Flushing. Sulphurous alkaline waters, 107° tQ 212° F. Special indications : Rheumatism, syphilis, skin diseases, and neuralgia. Booksellers : Eud. Barth, Holzgraben 8. English church. Doctors : Drs. Brandis, Mayer, Beissel, Feibes, Rademaker, Schumacher, Schuster, and Thyssen. The City of Aix-la-Chapelle is one of the most important balneological centres on the Continent. The waters have a powerful alterative effect, and for chronic and muscular rheumatism act as a most potent remedy.
