![] 12 ALAP ALBISBRUNN. Alap, or Fels6-Alap and Also-Alap.—Austria, Euugaiy, near Stuhlweissenburg'. Acidulous or bitter waters. Special indications: Irregxilar functions of the intestinal organs, affections of the mucous membrane, chronic skin diseases and plethora. Alaraz.—Spain, province of Salamanca, near Pefiaranda. Sulphurous waters. Special indications : Amenoi*rhoea, hysteria, niigraine, and nervous complaints. Alassio.—Italy, between Ventimiglia and Genoa, 6,000 inhabitants. Winter station. Charming and quiet locality. Special indications : Phthisis in both the early and late stages, scrofula, all lung diseases requiring a mild, dry climate, infantile paralysis and nervous diseases. In a very sheltered and romantic position, at the foot of wooded moun- tains. Very fine parks at some of the villas. Little wind and no dust. The town has been visited frequently by members of the Italian Royal family, and General Garibaldi was here cured of his bronchial attacks. There is an Enylivh chuych and several ])rimary schools. Alassio has tlio only good sandy beach on the Ileviera, and is therefore much sought after by batliers. Ba7ilcer and Excliange Office : Walter Congreve, Piazza della Posta. Doctors : Drs. Dickinson, Nam. and Boone. Hotels: The Grand Hotel d' Alassio and Hotel Suisse. Albaladejo.—Spain, province of Ciudad Real, near Yillanueva. Bitter waters. Very primitive arrangements, and only used by the surroundinj^ peasantry. Albano.—Ita,ly, in the Campagna of Rome. For routes see table. Ferruginous saline waters, 71''P. The muds and waters are principally used in cases of rheumatism and old wounds. Albans.—France, Upper Savoy, on the road from Ais to Annecy. Effervescing' ferruginous waters. Albisbrunn.—Switzerland, Canton of Ziirich, near Hansen; 1,960 feet above sea level. Hydropathic establishment, milk and whey cure. A very comfortable and elegant establishment, picturesquely situated. Near here are the n.iik and wlicy cuie stations of Boclcn and Hut I en. Doctors : Drs.
