    Keep this booklet. It will be very useful to refer to from time to time... PREVENTING CONCEPTION (or Voluntary Parenthood). THE PRECISE MEANING OF BIRTH CONTROL.—Birth Control has nothing whatever to do with Birth or with abortion. It deals with the actual prevention of conception or fertilization, an event which occurs nine whole months before a baby is born. Birth Control should therefore be known as Conception Control. HOW DOES CONCEPTION OccUR?—It is not only in beauty that the human body resembles a flower of the field. Each flower and’ each human body carries within itself the power of reproduction when the right partner shall be met. A flower’s male pollen must combine with a flower’s female ovule before new seed will form. A human spermatozoa must come in contact with a human ovum before a new life can start. Conception Control means the power to decide when and whether these two elements, spermatozoa and ovum shall be allowed to combine, and it means using this power without interrupting the normal natural course of married life. Both doctors and clergy know that the normal mural course of married life is in itself a very good and very beneficial ing HOW CONCEPTION iS PREVENTED.—The Hancock methods involve the use of nothing which could possibly harm the most delicate system, and they are very unobtrusive in use. It must be realised that the whole reproductive mechanism in man and in woman is very delicately adjusted and must be treated with the utmost care, and interfered with as little as possible. Hancock methods of Conception Control are all designed to this end. Only the very finest substances are used. The Hancock methods work in two simple perfectly safe ways. 1—By protecting, in a mechanical sense, the cervix or mouth of the womb so that spermatozoa cannot enter. 2—By destroying spermatozoa with very carefully prepared antiseptics in several convenient forms such as Cones, Creams, Powders, etc., which render any spermatozoa they meet altogether inactive. _ 1S CONTROL OF CONCEPTION WRONG?—Contro! of anything, like knowledge, is never wrong in itself. But it may be rightly or wrongly used. So it is with Control of Conception. There are, of course, selfish reasons for not wanting a baby. But where the new life cannot for the moment have a fair chance or where definite harm would be done to the mother’s health, control of conception is definitely a good thing. _ IS CONTROL OF CONCEPTION LEGAL?—Yes. English Law is as just and fair as any in the world. This is what in effect it says ‘‘ You may prevent the conception or start of a new life if you wish. L
