TH E celebrated Sydenham, fo concife and corred in the Defcription of Difeafes, has given us fo exadan account of the Venereal Di- ftemper, that I thought 1 could not do better than tranflate it Word for Word, and at full Length: To which I add, what Experience, the reading of practical Books, and the Conver- fation with Perfons experienced in this Mat¬ ter, have taught me. “ The Venereal Difeafe is propagated either <c by Generation, as when the Child comes €‘ into the World pox’d through the Fault of <c one or other of the Parents; or by the <£ touching of fome foft and porous Part of a Perfon infeded. in this Manner we fee <c i.) That the Infant gives it to the Nurfe “ or the Nurfe to the Child; in which Cafe H the firft Symptoms of it appear on the Nurfe’s 4C Bread, or in the Child's Mouth. 2.)
