The attempt of Sepulveda was made ip the right direction; for he founded his Ballad-book almost entirely on the old Ca6tillian TERS and appealed, as they did, to popular tradi- tion and the national feelings for his’support. . . In fact, more than three-fourths of this curious volume consist Pot ballads taken fron the Gener Chronicle of Spain, often employing’ its very words, and always imbued with the spirit.
