Description

Praxis Medica Pitcarniana. Holograph notes taken down by George Hepburn [1671-1759] of Pitcairne's lectures on the practice of physic, delivered at Leyden University. Signed at the end of the text 'Anno 1693. Hepburne'. Pp. 254-6 contain notes of a case dated 1695, and on Temple Well, 1696: at the end is a copy of a letter from Bellini to Pitcairne, 1694, in Latin, showing the necessity of a physician being a mathematician [see the Dictionary of National Biography s.v. Pitcairne]. Signature of R[obert] Foulkes Currie, Chester, 1798 [1776-1818] on the first leaf. Produced in Leyden.
