![EIYEES POLLUTION PREVENTION ACT, 1876. [39 & 40 Vict. c. 75.] An Act for making further Provision for the Prevention of the Pollution of Rivers—[15th August, 1876.] Whereas it is expedient to make further provision for the prevention of the pollution of rivers, and in particular to prevent the establish- ment of new sources of pollution : Be it therefore enacted by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows : §§ Short tiuTof 1- '^^^^ -^^^ ^^^^^ purposes as the Rivers Pollution Act. Prevention Act, 1876, PART I. Prohibition as to putting solid matters into streams.
