About this work
Description
Somerset organic cattle farmer Mark Purdey describes his 10-year battle with the Ministry of Agriculture to prove that organo-phosphates, pesticides to treat warble-fly in cattle and in to protect crops, are the cause of bovine spongiform encephalopathy. Britain, unlike the rest of Europe or the United States, uses high-dose organophosphates and it is phosmet, the active ingredient, which Mr. Purdey believes to be responsible for prion damage in cattle, for neurological diseases in farmers, and possibly for Creutzfeld-Jakob disease.
