Description
The man on the left of the table represents the "Evening News": he may be Alfred or Harold Harmsworth. The man on the right represents the "Herald"; a tall man in top-hat and tails stands between them laughing and applauding as they squirt ink at each other. They use enema syringes to squirt the ink, apparently alluding to the use of enema syringes by doctors in the opera Crispino e la comare (1850)
