Sailing from New York in 1810, after rounding Cape Horn a visit was paid to Hawaii. The Columbia river was reached in March, 1811. After serving for three years the author decided to return overland. He journeyed up the Columbia River and through the Rocky Mountains, across to the Red River Settlement and hence to Montreal.
