![[ 8+ ] be fair and dry ; or the lower Region to be dry, when all above has a Tendency to wet Weather: It is certain, that no Conjedture, taken from Part of the Attnofphere, can be fo well grounded, as what is derived from the more general and prevailing Quality of the Whole. Not that, even in this latter Cafe, we can form any certain Judgment of a Thing fo mutable as the fucceeding State of the Weather: Becaufe the fudden Changes and Oppositions of Winds, and Confuhon in the Streams of Air and Vapours driving above, are ufually attended with Changes equally fudden and irregular, as well in the Motions of the Barometer, as in the Temper and Quality of the Weather. Within the fhort Compafs of 48 Hours, I have obferved thefe following, (and it rarely happens, but that the like, or greater Changes in the Winter- Seafon may be equally obfervable) viz. lft, A warm Wind and Rain out of the South, the Glqfs near Stormy. 2d, A cold North Wind, the Air clear and frofty ; the Glafs betwixt Rain and Changeable. 3d, A cold Southerly Wind and Rain, for hx or eight Hours; the Glafs advancing hill to¬ wards Fair. 4th, A Weft Wind rifing gently* and after fome little Time blowing itronger, and clearing the Hemifpkere, the Glafs in the Beginning at Fair, and afterwards fink¬ ing to Changeable, Th $](https://iiif.wellcomecollection.org/image/b30358498_0084.jp2/full/800%2C/0/default.jpg)
