ABOUT ten or a dozen Years ago, I began to be afflidted with a Fain like the Pieurify on the left Side, and the right was likewife affedted, but not fo much, which I thought was owing to the Gravel, efpecialjy as my Father had been greatly affiidted with it. When I walked, or rode on Horfe- back, I made bloody Water, and was fcarce ever free from the Pain. When I was in Bed, it feemed rather eafier after I had lain an Hour, and the fame in the Morning two or three Hours after I got up. Growing worfe and worfe, I went to an eminent Phyfician, who prefcribed for me feveral Things, and ordered me to the hot Bath : but I found hardly any relief, and voided nothing, that appeared like the Stone: 1 took afterwards Garlick, Marfbmallows, and fe¬ veral other Things I was advifed to 5 but was at la-ft reduced to fuch a miferable condition, that I did not expedt to live much longer, and was prayed for at Church feveral Times. In the Year 1750. I was in fuch terrible Agonies, that I had loft my Appe¬ tite entirely, and was very coftive : Upon hearing that George Hadley Efq. of Ea$-Barnet had been cured of the Stone by Mrs. Stephens's Medicines, I applied to.
