    univerfally taken place, inftead of that pro¬ digious Deftrudion of Mankind, 40,000 in the Space of 20 Years in one Diftrid, no more than 1400 had periShed; and the Dif¬ ference in that fhort Period would have been no lefs than Thirty-eight thousand six hundred Lives preferved, befides the nu¬ merous Pofterity that might have been de¬ rived from them.
