Legal proceedings were taken against the retailer, who was convicted and fined. Legal Proceedings. It was found necessary to issue summonses on two occasions during the year, one under the Food & Drugs Act and the other under the Public Health Acts. The proceedings under the Food & Drugs Act were against a grocer for failing to keep the walls and ceilings of a room in a good state of repair and for allowing filth to accumulate in the room. The defendant pleaded that his premises had been badly “blitzed and that he had not been able to get them in proper order since. The case was dismissed on payment of costs. Under the Public Health Acts an owner was summoned for failing to comply with an abatement notice. An Order was madei for the work to be carried out within 28 days. At the end of the year some of the w'ork was still outstanding. Work carried out in Default. Repairs to eaves gutters were carried out on one occasion where an owner failed to comply with notice served upon him. 19 sanitary dust bins were supplied in default and the owners charged with the cost. Food & Drugs Act, 1938. During the coru’se of the yeai' one additional premises was registered under the provisions of the Food & Drugs Act, 1938, in respect of an Ice Cream Factory. The total number of registered food premises at the end of the year 1941 was 119.
