No text description is available for this image![22 Last year there were 394 cases of Scarlet Fever notified, and 21 deaths, and this year 178 cases and five deaths, three of which occurred in the outlying districts. The following may be of interest:— /###]1893 417 Notified Cases 12 Deaths 1894 270 „ „ 11 „ 1895 256 „ „ 6 „ 1896 394 „ „ 21 „ 1697 178 „ „ 5 „ Enteric or Typhoid Fever. Last year there were 37 cases of Enteric Fever reported, and 16 deaths. This year the number is 35, the fatal cases being eight. Erysipelas still shows a decrease, compared with that of last year. 1893—140 cases. 1894—96. 1895—65. 1896—61. 1897—56. Measles. This disease used to be looked upon as one of the most simple of the Zymotic class, but of late years the complica tions (principally of the Respiratory organs) arising therefrom have been so numerous as to suggest that it is more fatal than Scarlet Fever.
