Realistic medical drama series charting the life and work of Dr. Eleanor Bramwell (played by Jemma Redgrave with David Calder as her father, Robert), a fictional pioneer woman doctor working in London in the 1890s. The series highlights numerous aspects of medical and surgical practice and public health problems in late nineteenth century Britain. Of considerable interest to historians of this era of medicine.
