    1. STAFF. During the year 1946, changes took place in the school medical and dental slalL Dr. Carpenter died on May 7th and there was a considerable interval before his successor, Dr. H. C. Calvey, was appointed. He actually commenced his duties on November 1st. Dr. Margaret Brodigan resigned as from September and Dr. Jennings, who, throughout practically the whole period of the war gave her services voluntarily, also resigned in October, 1946. To replace these two ladies, the County Council appointed Dr. Anne Simpson and Dr. Charlotte Forsyth, the ff)rmer commencing on October 1st and the latter on October 14th. Changes have also taken place on the dental staff. Mr. \V. Bayne, L.D.S., who was a part-time school dental surgeon, resigned as from the 31st March and Mrs. Morris, a former dentist on the Council’s staff, kindly agreed to do part-time inspection and treatment until a ne\v oflicer was appointed. Mr. H. J. Nicholls, L.D.S., was appointed and commenced duty on September 2nd, 1946. Miss Ayress \\as appointed full-time dental attendant in September so that at the end of the year under review there were on the staff three whole-time dentists, each with an attendant. It is to be hoped that dental inspection and treatment will now go smoothly forward uninterrupted by such staff difliculties as the service has c.xperienced during the last six years. Two whole-time school nurses are also employed by the Council, one in Newport and one in Ryde. In other areas, the District Nurses act as part-time school nurses. 3. MILK IN SCHOOLS. .Milk was suj)])lied in every school with the exception of Brooke, tuberculin tested milk in twelve schools, accredited in six, pasteurised in thirty-nine and non-graded raw milk in ten.
