Of the 84 deaths registered in the Dore Rural District in 1911 there were 77 certified by registered medical practitioners, 5 by the Coroner, and 2 were uncertified. Given as percentages of the total deaths, 91.6 per cent, were certified by medical practitioners, 6 per cent, by the Coroner, and 2.4 per cent, were uncertified. The causes of death entered by the Registrars in the case of the uncertified deaths were premature birth, and heart failure. There were no uncertified deaths in the Clodock Regis- tration Sub-district. INFANT MORTALITY. 1911. Dore Rural District 74 Rural England ug I he amount of infant mortality is measured by stating the number of children who have died under one year old within a certain period in proportion to 1,000 births during the same period. In the Dore Rural District during 1911 there were born 162 children, and 12 children died under 12 months old. The infant mortality rate was thus equal to 74 per 1,000 births.
