![FACTORY AND WORKSHOP ACTS, 1378—1891. 41 Vict. Chap. 16. An Act to consolidate and amend the Laic relating to Factories and Workshops. [27th May, 1878.] BE it enacted by the Queen’s most excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and con- sent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows : Preliminary. 1. This Act may be cited as the Factory and Act 1878. Workshop Act, 1878. short title. 2 This Act shall come into operation on the Commence- first day of January, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-nine, which day is in this Act referred to as the commencement of this Act : Provided that at any time after the passing of this Act, any appointment, regulation or order may be made, any notice issued, form prescribed, and act done which appears to a Secretary of State necessary or proper to be made, issued, prescribed, or done for the purpose of bringing this Act into operation at the commencement thereof. Any order granted by the Secretary of State under any of the repealed Acts may, if so directed by the Secretary of State, continue in force for three months alter the com- mencement of the Act.
