Food Hygiene Regular inspections of premises where food is manu¬ factured, stored, prepared and sold have been made during the year, and these insioections are detailed in Appendix A. The inspections have resulted in the location of several minor defects or contraventions of the Food and Drugs Act, which have been dealt witli, but the real value of these inspections has been in directing the attention of food manu¬ facturers and handlers to Avarious matter designed to secure a higher standard of food hygiene. A disquieting feature at the present time is the unsatis¬ factory methods of conveyance and handling of meat, when it is distributed from the central slaughterhouse in Leeds to retail luitchers in your District.
