Milk. There are 488 Dairies, Cowsheds and Milkshops on the register, and during the year 270 premises have been visited by the Sanitary Inspectors. In twelve cases the service of notices has secured the abatement of a nuisance. In addition to the above, I have carried out many inspections in different parts of the district, and have come to the conclusion that there is a common misunderstanding among farmers as to the need to register with their Local Authority. The number of registered premises given above does not represent the true figure. It is quite commonly supposed that registration with the Milk Marketing Board is all that is required. lu addition some producers of designated milk appear to be under the impression that a licence from the County Council absolves them from registration with their Local Authority. The general standard of cleanliness of milk production leaves much to be desired.](https://iiif.wellcomecollection.org/image/b28899623_0018.jp2/full/800%2C/0/default.jpg)
