W. Robinson, The history and antiquities of the parish of Hackney, London, 1842 [pp.117-119] describes this building. The house shown was built in 1728 for Stamp Brooksbank, MP. It later [1786] came into the possession of a Calvinist group who extended the house, as shown, with symmetrical wings and founded a theological college. The building was demolished c.1790, and several small houses built on the grounds
