In order to escape, the remaining Evil Be¬ ings, in consultation with the Good Powers, decided to offer the Great Dawn their secret knowledge of prolongation of life by the magic and medicinal use of herbs and roots, the hairs of our Earth Grandmother. To this they added the assurance of, if not im¬ mortality, at least a safe journey and cer¬ tain admission to the Abode of the Dead,
