    TO HER MAJESTY’S JUSTICES OF THE PEACE FOR THE COUNTY OF MIDDLESEX, in General Quarter Session Assembled. The TWENTY-NINTH REPORT of the Committee of Visitors of the Lunatic Asylum for the County of Middlesex, situate at Hanwell. The Committee of Visitors have again the pleasing duty to report upon the satisfactory condition of the Asylum, and they are also thankful in being able to state that through¬ out the whole year there has been no disease of an infectious character, and that although the death-rate has exceeded the average, this fact is more especially attributable to the condition of the cases admitted, and the great age of the Patients. The number of Patients in the Asylum on the 31st. December, 1873, was 1,829 ; of whom 718 were Males, and 1,111 Females; 3 Males, and 3 Females also on the books were out on probation. At the same period in 1872, the number was 1,795, of whom 700 were Males, and 1,095 Females.
