Sometimes the Matter caujing the T>if- eaje, thrujl upon the Arm, caufes a white Swelling; which is by degrees inflamed with (ftednefs, feme times falling upon the Thighs, it feels as if there was a great Weight hanging upon them, yet without any conjiderable Pain, but pajjing to the Knee, it handles that more feVerely, fo objlruBing all Motions, that it is as it were nailed to the Bed : And whereas the Gout did not ufe to inVade before the lat¬ ter end of Winter, and was wont to go off after two or three Months, now it re¬ mains a whole Year, excepting only the Very hot Months of Summer. The general Fits, and the particular Ones of which they are compofed, rage longer, ef- pecially if it pojfefjes the Feet and Knees.'
