No text description is available for this image![ANNUAL REPORT OF THE * Provincial Board of Health For the Province of Ontario For the Year Ending 31st December, 1922 RESUME OF THE TRANSACTIONS OF THE BOARD OF HEALTH BY THE CHIEF OFFICER OF HEALTH. This is the Forty-first Annual Report of the Provincial Board of Health for the year ending the 31st day of December, 1922. During the year there were four regular meetings and one special meeting of the Board, at which all the members were present. Legislation. 1. During the Session of the Legislature for 1922 the following amendment to the Public Health Act was passed: Section 35 of the Public Health Act is amended by adding thereto the following subsection:— (5) The council of a city, town, township or village or a local board of health may appoint one or more public health nurses, and one or more duly qualified physicians and engage such other services as may, in the opinion of the council or local board be required for carrying out the provisions of this or any other Act administered by the Department of Public Health or the regulations made there¬ under for the prevention or treatment of disease. 2. The Venereal Diseases Prevention Act was amended as follows:— Subsection 2 of Section 13 of the Venereal Diseases Prevention Act is amended by inserting after the words ‘ ‘provide for” in the third line thereof the words “the payment of the expenses incurred in carrying out any regu¬ lations made under subsection 1 for the prevention, treatment or cure of venereal diseases, including,” so that the subsection will now read as follows:— (2) The Board, with the approval of the Lieutenant-Governor-in-Council may, out of any moneys appropriated by the Legislature for the purpose of the Board, provide for the payment of the expenses incurred in carrying out any regulations made under subsection 1 for the prevention, treatment or cure of venereal diseases, including the manufacture and free distribution to local boards and to medical practitioners and hospitals of any drug, medicine, appliance or instruments which the Board may deem useful or necessary for the alleviation, treatment or cure of venereal disease or the pre¬ vention of infection therefrom.
