The last leaf of the “‘ Purgatorio” (sig.x 3) 1s wanting and supplied in old manuscript facsimile on vellum, old red morocco, gilt border on sides with arabesques and sprays at corners, in the centre the arms of a bishop, probably of the family of Este ( per pale, land 4 an eaglet displayed with coronet above; 2 and 3 a porcupine within a wreath, ona bar in chief four fleurs-de-lys ; over all an escutcheon of pretence, per pale, dexter a cross, sinister a wolf rampant), sprays within panels on back (back wormed at top and bottom), gilt gauffred edges ; sold not subject to return 8vo. 1502 EXTREMELY RARE.
