Twenty-three samples were taken during the year by the Wharves Inspectors, action being taken in connection with the following cases: — Article Examined Result Action Lead 8 parts per million Lead 8 parts per million Lead 10 parts per million Tin 0.2 grams per pound Lead 8 parts per million Portuguese Sardines A warning was given to the merchant in all cases to communicate with shipper to eradicate metallic contamination, Portuguese Sardines Chinchards Portuguese Sardines UNSOUND FOOD. The general inspection of food in shops and on stalls forms part of the duty of the District Sanitary Inspectors.
