![Byllyngbrow & Horblyng & from Bronde Dyke End to Sterbyke Gote ought to be deked be the inhabetance of the Eyghte Hundrythe. Item the jury saythe that Hamond Beck is defyctyve at one place called the Barle .. . that ys to narow & to sheld. Item the sayd jury sayth that Hamond Becke is defyctyve agyeynste Framton forthe .. . not of brede & depnes as it owghte to be. [473.X1.25] 205 1(The Slakers 33) Item the sade jurie saethe that for as muche as upon the grete risse of the freshe wateres floudes issuynge owt of the partes of Kesten from Cate Bridge into the rever of Glene & also the waters dessendinge from Burn into the sade rever of Glene & so dessendinge to Pinchebeck from thens to Surflett and so from thens to the sey cannott be kept in the chanell & within the bankes but bursteth & breketh over the same bankes as well into the fennes of bothe sides the sade rever as into the sade town whereby not only the same be yerly in greate daynger to be surrounded by the rage of the sade freshe waters but it dothe also bown and swell over the bankes in dyveres & sondrye places ; the sade jure therefore thynks it mete & necessarye that ther be made slakers for the abattynge of the rage of the same waters the one of the same slakers . . . lade upon the bankes called the Commoned Bank at Dove Hurn over the southe side and the other to be lade over the common banke at Dove Hurn over the northe side. (Brigges) Item they say that ther is one other bridge lyeng over Sterfen Graft adionynge upon the groundes of Thomas Harlwyne in Mylner Grene ys in ruing & decay and one other brydge called Whaplode Brigge and ought to be made & repared as hathe bene accustomed. (A gote betwixt Burn Eye & the Graft) Item the sade jurie thynkes yt very mete & necessarye that a certaine hollowe trey or ... betwixte Burn Eye & the Graft called Northegate Graft be ordened & decreed by la[w] . . . suewers to lye to take in water as well for the grete daunger of fyer as for . . . drynke for suche thynhabetantes of Pinchebek as dwell farre from the seye & to. . . in suche order as by the former lawes ys decreed.
