Kidney: tuberculous pyonephrosis

Tuberculous pyonephrosis This image shows two half sections of each kidney. Note the three small, pale areas at the corticomedullary junction in the kidney on the left. These are necrotic tuberculous lesions. The specimen on the right has extensive chronic caseation necrosis of the parenchyma. One of the lesions has discharged and cavitated.
