    XiM. Why rush thus madly on ?—thou shalt repent When ’tis too late ; but since thou call’st on him Whose badge I wear, I can no more refuse. Gust. Nay quickly speak—pray let me hear the whole. XiM. Then listen to my tale, which I had wished Might fast, in the recesses of my heart, Have been for ever hidden.— Last night, at that dread hour, when age reporteth Damned ghosts, to seek repose awhile from hell. Glide to the charnel house, to vest a form Shaped of mephitick vapours from the dead, And quickly passing seek their living friends. And visit them with terror.—When first morn And night begin to combat for their reign, I yet was watching—wrapt in holy prayer— Methought I heard a voice that bade me rise.— I rose, when sudden to my wondering sight The walls around seemed changed, and in their stead I viewed as ’twere two living pictures placed.— Amazed in mute astonishment I stood— When lo ! the self same voice called me to mark. And what I saw relate to thee—for all. That heaven’s behest ordained, was yet undone.— F 4
