Ladies and Gentlemenj I have the honour to submit the Annual Deport upon the health of the District;, and the ^^'ork of the Public Eealth. Department for the year 1942. I was appointed Medical Officer of Health in October, when Dp.A.R.Graham left for service with H.M.Forces. The Res'istrar General’s estimate af the population is 34,950. The Birth Rate is 20.16 per 1,000 compared vdth I5. 8 for England and 'ales. The Death Rate is 11.2 per 1,000 compared with 11.6 for England and 'ales. The Infant Mortality Rate is itO.O per 1,000 Hire births compared v/ith 49*0 for England and ’ales. The general health of the district is satisfactory.
