![TO THE DOLGELLEY URBAN DISTRICT COUNCIL. Mr. Chairman, Mrs. Bees, and Gentlemen,— I beg- to submit my report upon the sanitary conditions of your District during the year 1938. The Urban District .of D o 1 g el ley has an area, of 1,127 acreas. The Registrar General’s estimate of the resident population at mid 1938 was 2,4(11. The number of inhabited houses (end of 1938) according to the Bate Rooks was 005. The rateable value at the same date was £9,137, and the sum represented by a penny rate was £35 2s. 3d. The inhabitants are for the most part engaged in the ordin- ary occupations of an agricultural market town. The sur- rounding country is mountainous. The town lies at the bottom of a dee]) valley, rising on the steep southern slope of tlie valley, having therefore an aspect to the North. Im- mediately to the South, Cader Idris rises to a height of nearly 3,000 feet. Through the main falley the river Wnion runs, and this is joined by a smaller stream, called the Arran, which comes down from Oader Idris through the town with a rapid descent. VITAL STATISTICS.
