But this rafp is to be ufed with dif- cretion, leaft the cruft being too thin, and not able to fupport the weight of the horfe, a fand-crack enfue ; which frequently happens, from too free, or -untkilful ufe of this tool, and from the natural rigid texture of the co- ronet. The heel of the fhoe, on all ftrong and narrow-heeled horfes, fhould be made {trait at the extreme points ; the form of the fhoe in fome meafure helping to diftend the heel of the horfe.
