    96. DEMONSTRATION OF AOTION CURRENTS IN THE LYMPH HBART OF THE FROG. 97. CONTROL OF URINARY BLADDER TONUS BY THE HYPOTHALA- MUS. A series of experiments illustrating the effects of electrical stimulation of the hypothalamus on bladder tonus. Two areas, one causing increased tonus and the other diminished tonus, are shown. 28, DEMONSTRATION OF A SIMPLE STEREOTAXIC INSTRUMENT FOR STIMULATION OR DESTRUCTION OF SMALL AREAS OF BRAIN. 29, WounpD HEALING IN VITRO, Experiments in wound healing show that the growing skin epithelium produces changes in the underlying fibrous tissue. By grafting in vitro different tissues on to fibrous tissue it is demonstrated that these changes occur only in relation to skin epithelial growth. 30, ACHALASIA OF THE (HSOPHAGUS. A series of slides illustrating the results obtained in an experi- mental investigation of the innervation of the cesophagus. Stimulation experiments show that there is a true intrinsic sphincter at the cardia, the sympathetic supply of which is derived in part at least from the cceliac plexus. After the production of experimental achalasia by vagal section it may be relieved by excision of the sympathetic supply from the cceliac plexus (Cceliac-sympathectomy). These results suggest the possibility of treating achalasia of the cardia in the human by sympathectomy. 95, Le CHOC CHIRURGICAL.
