![TINCTURA ALOES COMPOSITA. COMPOUND TINCTURE OF ALOES. Take of— Barbadoes Aloes, in coarse | drachms. powder 3 Myrrh 5 drachms. Methylated or Eectified Spirit . 14 fluid ounces. Water 6 fluid ounces. ]\:[acerate the aloes and the myrrh in the spirit and the water, previously mixed, for fourteen days in a closed vessel, and shake frequently. Filter and add sufficient proof spirit to make one pint. Uses.—Externally:—Excitant to wounds, obstinate ulcers, and excoriations. TINCTURA ARNICiE. TINCTUEE OF ARNICA. Take of— Arnica Root, bruised 1 ounce. Proof Spirit 1 pint. Macerate the arnica for forty-eight hours in fifteen fluid ounces of the spirit, in a closed vessel, agitating occa- sionally ; transfer to a percolator, and, when the fluid ceases to pass, continue the percolation with the remaining five ounces of spirit. Then subject the contents of the perco- lator to pressure, filter the product, mix the liquids, and add sufficient rectified spirit to make one pint.
