I merely wish to have the propriety considered of permitting a decla¬ ration by the Presiding Officer On the occasion, that he is willing to receive donations, for the benefit of the Society, from such gentlemen as are disposed to give them. Benevolence can never injure either conviviality or hilarity; and, if gentlemen are disposed to be benevolent, an opportunity is afforded on these occasions to exercise it in a direct and easy manner.
