E. PREVENTION OF ACCIDENTS The arrangements outlined in previous reports for the prevention of accicents have continued, and the weekly returns from Perth Royal Infirmary and Bridge of Earn Hospital of all accident cases requiring admission to hospital have continued to be received. During the year the Health Visitors investigated 119 home and 88 other cases of accid- ent which had required admission to hospital. For a summary of the causes of the accidents reference should be made to Tables No.33 and 34. From the figures supplied by the Registrar General’s office it is noted that there were 8 fatal home accidents during the year, three being children under one year of age. The causes of death were as follows - Falls 3 Asphyxia 2 Coal Gas Poisoning 1 Burns 2 VEHICULAR ACCIDENTS As a result of accidents caused by vehicular traffic in the City, 196 persons were injured, compared with 238 during the previous year. As a result of these accidents one person was fat- ally injured, 49 were seriously injured and 146 were slightly injured. 32 of those injured were persons unoer 15 years of age, 7 being seriously injured and 25 slightly injured.
