    ^vliicli have come under their notice incidentally during the space of three years, not only find no 1 eason to retract any thing they^ liave before ad- vanced, l)iit, on the contrary, tliey feel warranted in confirming all the tacts stated in tlieir former Reports- I he Committee now feel themselves called upon to advert to the slate of the Funds, from which it appears that after defraying the expenses of the Asylum for fourteen months, from Novem- her 14, 1822, to December 31, 1823, there re- mains a balance of only 68/. lOi'. 9cl. in the Trea- surer’s hands at Christmas last, which balance is inadequate to meet the current expenses of the pre- sent Quarter. Your Committee are therefore under the necessity of appealing to the benevolent feelings of the Pubirc 101 the means of maintaining this Charity, entreat- ing them to exert their influence with their friends to procure for it an increase of patronao’e and support. ® The House (part of which at present is only occu- pied by the Patients in the Asylum) is sufficiently capacious to accommodate thirty Patients instead of eight, so that by an increase of expense, much less than proportional, the benefits of the Charity are capable of being extended to tliat number, by which means the efficacy of Mr. vVhitlaw’s remedies and mode of treatment would be still more unequivocally confirmed, and tiie Public confidence more fully established. ^
