Description

This video news release (VNR) was for distribution from 01:00 21st November 1991 relating to an HIV/AIDS Research Study on AZT/3TC. Professor Christine Katlama (details in French onscreen), from the Infectious and Tropical Disease Service at the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital, comments to camera (in somewhat faltering English) on the new research. Katlama arrives at the registration desk for the Second International Congress on Drug Therapy in HIV Infection. Dr Brian Gazzard, Clinical Director of HIV and Genito-Urinary Medicine at St. Stephen's Clinic, London, comments on the new research. Exteriors of St. Stephen's are shown. Dr Joep M.A. Lange, Chief, Clinical Research and Drug Development Office of Research, Global Programme on AIDS, W.H.O. Geneva, also comments on the research followed by Dr Julio Montaner, Director, AIDS Research Program and Infectious Disease Clinic, St. Paul's Hospital, University of British Columbia, Vancouver. Next is Dr Robert T. Schooley, Professor of Medicine, Head Division of Infectious Diseases, University of Colorado, Health Sciences Centre, Denver. Followed by Dr Stefano Vella, research Drector, Antiviral Agents, Istituto Superiore di Sanita, Laboratory of Virology, Rome. Finally there are stock shots of the HIV Conference , Glasgow, Scotland; exteriors and interiors (posters, publications, registration), then research laboratory footage.
