    RETENTION OF TEMPORARY TEETH WITH PERMANENT TEETH In order of frequency :— Upper canines. Lower 2nd molars. Upper 2nd molars. Lower incisors. May remain till quite late in life. Results: — May remain at original level. May rise to occlusion. Gum may grow partially over. May be wedged between two permanent teeth. Caries from wedging. Irregularities of permanent teeth. Treatment:— Take skiagraph to ascertain position of successor, if unerupted. a. If in a position to erupt, extract tem- porary tooth. b. If absent or much out of position, retain temporary tooth if healthy.
