    Fatal Accident in Plyaiouth Harbour.— A telegram from Reuter’s representative at Plymouth says that a fatal accident occurred there on Saturday afternoon while a party of Devonporb Dockyard and Great Western Dock labourers, employed on a Govern- ment mooring lighter, were altering the moorings of a buoy off the entrance to the Great Western Docks. A large mooring-stone, over eight tons in weight, had been hauled nearly up to the surface when the tackle suddenly gave way, and the stone sank. The hawser ran out with tremendous velocity, and caught a dock- yard labourer, named John Rollings, round one of the legs, which was lacerated. He was taken to the Royal Naval Hospital, where the wounded limb was amimtated, but without success, so far as the saving of the patient’s life was concerned, the poor fellow having lost a great quantity of blood owing to his companions having fastened splinters round the leg ^ instead of improvising a tourniquet.
