Somewhat discrepant statements are found in varions articles in reference to tlie actual velocity of light. The best Astronomical determination of it is still perhaps that by Stnive, which gives it as 191,515 miles per second. The physical determination by Fizeau gives a higher number—nearer to the original one of Rbmer.
