Aden and Baroda Cantonments so submit returns to this Department. These Divisions are shown in ppendix III to this Report. Abcording to the 1931 Census, the Indian filiation of the Presidency including Sind (21,808,756) is distributed follows : Rural Circles 17,605,704 ; Town Circles 4,124,052 and Canton- ents 79,000. This includes figures^ for Europeans and Anglo-Indians 5°’ Separate infoimation by localities for these communities is not 'ailable at present. The marked changes in population of certain areas, as revealed by e Census, render comparison of the ratios of the year under review with e immediately preceding years based on 1921 Census of little value, several cases, it will be noticed that, although there is a “ de facto ” irease in the total number of births recorded as compared with the evious year, yet the ratio per mille is less, as the calculations are based the Census figures for 1931. The actual recorded figures, therefore, re a more just estimate of the state of health of the Communities. It has been suggested by the Public Health Commissioner with the ivernment of India that calculations for every year should be based on 3 “estimated ” population for each year of the intercensal periods, hen this comes into force these discrepancies in ratio will tend to ^appear. General Review of past Decennium 1921-30. 3. It would be of interest in a Census year to review tbe progress tde during the period of ten years as compared with the previous 3ennium. census.—The figures for the previous Censuses 1901 .. * * • • . . • . 1911 .. • • • • • • • 1921 .. • • • • • • 1931F.. j. • * • • Mo-ii Bk P 3—] are :— 18,481,362 19,587,383 19,165,614 21,808,756 • * • •• • •](https://iiif.wellcomecollection.org/image/b31405277_0007.jp2/full/800%2C/0/default.jpg)
