![;in(] have prosecuted their researches with distinguished zeal and ability. The results have been of the most satis- factory character. Deformities of the limbs and even of the trunk, which but a few years ago would have been con- sidered as entirely incurable, are now daily treated with success. And there are comparatively few distortions of the human frame, even when existing at an advanced period of life, which at the present time can be regarded as be- yond the reacli of surgical aid. The operation for the cure of stra- bismus is one of the most recent appli- cations of the principles which have previously been carried out in the treat- ment of other classes of deformities.
