The water supply of Torquay is derived from upland surface, gathering ground about 15 miles from Torquay, on the borders of Dartmoor. At the present time the water is stored in two large reservoirs, the Tottiford Reservoir containing 103,000,000 gallons, and the Kennick Reservoir 194,000,000 gallons. The supply is augmented by taking water from the Trenchford stream, the yearly average amount being 170,000,000 gallons. In order to reduce to a mininum the possibility of there being any shortage of water in very dry seasons, the Corporation applied for
