![DEATH RATE FROM CANCER. 33 deaths were ascribed to cancer, being one more than the previous year, VACCINATION RETURNS. The Local Registrar has supplied me with the following information for the year 1942:- The number of successful vaccinations were 45, whilst 59 exemptions were granted. The number of births were 2S5 showing that 15,2 per cent, of the children bom were vaccinated, as against 10,8 per cent last year* NOTIFICATION OF BIRTHS. MATERNIVY AITD CHILD WELFARE, This section of Public Health Administration is entirely under the control of the Flintshire County Council and their Health Visitor. A Welfare Centre has been established at the Old Emmanuel School, Vale Road, at which local ladies also give voluntary assistance, VENEREAL DISEASES. This Department is also under the control of the Flintshire County Council, the nearest station for treatment being Chester. ISOLATION HOSPITAL. The number of cases of Infectious Diseases admitted into the Hospital xvas 90. i Disease. . No. of cases admitted. Result. ! Scarlet Fever 26 , Cured. Diphtheria 36 ?7 ! Diphtheria Carriers 10 V? | Diphtheria Suspects 8 t? Diphtheria & Scarlet Fever 1 ?» Diphtheria & Vincent’s Angina 1 Died. (In hospital 3 days). Measles 3 Cubed Whooping Cough 1 !? T.B. Meningitis 1 Died. (In hospital 13 days). Cerebro-Spinal Meningitis Suspect ' 1 Cured Typhoid -^ever Suspect 1 j Dysentery Suspect 1 ” 1 TOTAL | 90 88 cured. 2 died. There was only one fatal case of diphtheria out of 46 patients admitted showing a great difference in the mortality rate which used to be towards QQfo and 90jo before the introduction of early diagnosis and taking of swabs as against just over 2V]0 in the current year.
